For the Love of Books
Books on the bus!
Due to the increase in petrol, and the wonderful 50 cent fares, more people have started using the bus for their daily commute.
I caught up with a few locals who, like me, love to use the time for some reading.
Stacey is reading “The Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah.
“I’m really enjoying it. It’s such a powerful story about courage and resilience during World War II. I started reading on my commute, and it’s honestly helped me fall back in love with reading because it a decent time to dive into the stories.”
Annie just finished reading the memoir “Driven” by F1 driver Susie Wolff.
“Gripped by F1, ‘Drive to Survive’ fever, ‘Driven’ was suggested to me and once I started I couldn’t put it down”.
It covers “early years in karting, through to her professional racing career and setting up the female focused F1 Academy. It’s thoughtful, smart, funny and inspiring. A 5 star read for anyone who loves motorsport, passionate athletes or a good biography”.
Another regular local bus reader is Sascha, who just finished new release “The Nocturnals” by Frances Whiting.
It’s “a heartwarming story about the enduring power of high school friendships, heartbreak, love and hope”. Sascha warns it did cause a few tears to be shed in public though.
Lastly, Craig is reading volume five of Karl Ove Knausgaard’s ‘My Struggle’ series, “Some Rain Must Fall”.
Caig says it’s a “deeply reflective memoir/novel that, while reading on the bus, I have become quite lost in it and it puts me in a calm place”.
So what are you waiting for?
Pick up a book and hop on the bus!
Happy reading! @sarahsbookchat
