For the Love of Books – Gravity Let Me Go

For the Love of Books

I know this column often features Trent Dalton – but it would be fully remiss of me not to review his latest novel Gravity Let Me Go.

Of course it is a secret, and referred to as “Jubilee” throughout the whole novel, however you’d have to be blind freddy to live here and not see some of the parallels with life in the inner northern suburbs.

I won’t give spoilers but it’s a gritty crime novel about evil things that can happen in seemingly perfect suburbs, mixed with a literary look into relationships and families, and sprinkled with a touch of magical realism.

A perfect storm of genres to keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Dalton describes it as his most autobiographical novel yet, and you can certainly feel the honesty on the page.

I have seen people saying this is his best novel yet, but it’s tricky to compare when they’re all quite different. I’ll let you all decide for yourselves.

Happy Reading! @sarahsbookchat
