Ryan Edgar wins Silver at World Championships!

Ryan Edgar (a local student) and Thomas Turner have won a silver medal at the FIVB Beach Volleyball U18 World Championships, claiming a historic win in The Hague – as the first Australian men’s team to achieve this.

They finished up as runners up to the gold medal winning team Germany, 21-17.

It was a phenomenal result for the boys. They finished second in their pool after victories over Switzerland and the Netherlands and a narrow loss to France.

In the knockout stages, they defeated Argentina, Lithuania, and Norway to reach the semi-finals. After a hard-fought three-set win against Poland (19-17), they advanced to the final, where they ultimately lost to Germany. Both boys played with incredible heart and fully deserved their place in the final.

An amazing achievement for Ryan and Thomas, following on from their U18 Asian Championship title.

Congratulations Ryan and Thomas!

Acknowledgments also for the local support in helping Ryan get to the Netherlands, and in particular local company Osbourne Richardson for their significant financial support to make this possible.
